FreeedomScan.gif (92390 bytes) “Freedom” She is free. Free from the fear of death. She understands that life is about birth, death and rebirth. That is what the ancient symbol of the serpent that encircles her represents. She wears a dress with butterflies, thus she has the capability to transform herself, like the caterpillar who metamorphoses itself, like all of life. Her hair is split into the dark and the light, each having a place in our world. The patriarchal society of America’s stars and stripes anthem spurs her into taking action. She is the Goddess bringing us the message that we are already free.
God's Summer Scan.gif (98954 bytes) “God’s Summer” She is abundant and filled with the harvest of life. God’s Summer is one of a series of untraditional images of the feminine that remind us to bring nurturance, compassion and heart into our daily lives. She was inspired by my indepth research of the Goddess, as well as by a woman who I admire, and who has fed my soul for the past several years as minister of my Unity Community, Vici Derrick. She exemplifies courage, and wears it as a halo as symbolized by the mane of yellow hair. The circles and spirals are the goddess signs of eternal life, death and rebirth. Her swirling blue dress is indicative of the waters from where all life has begun and since neolithic times has represented the “mother,” from where all life derives. She is fruitful in all her ventures and in the scene she is always inspired to action by the bull, an ancient symbol of the masculine. The sunflower guides her into the light. Magic occurs when we open to life.
GoddessPrint.gif (123611 bytes) “Mother Goddess” Painting the Goddess energy has been my celebration of the ongoing rhythm of life. Her blue color symbolizes the waters of life and the spirals are those of the patterns of nature itself and all creation. The Goddess is the tree of life, with the seed and her creative forces she is the giver of life. She represents a wholeness unto herself yet she is empowered by the male—the energy of action. In ancient cultures this was represented by the horns of animals. Both masculine and feminine having an equal place in creation. I see it all around me, the Goddess energy at work. Men are being validated for their intuition and feelings. Women are calling up the warrior within to make changes in their lives, thus the world. The Goddess is an ancient sacred energy, one of holiness (wholeness).
WiseWomanScan.gif (89160 bytes) “Wise Woman, Crone” Inspired by my own mother who has gained the wisdom of the Goddess energy, she holds the earth in her hands and sees it as a magical place. She is a wise shaman healer and knows her place in the universe is to help others see their own magical light! It is time for us to once again honor our elders, for they are our connection to our past. Inside each one of us lies this ancient wisdom. It is time to remember who we are.
